Tatsuo Masuda 

Mr Masuda is Advisory Board Member of “Partnering to Accelerate Sustainable Energy Innovation” under the World Economic Forum’s Shaping the Future of Energy initiative which aims to substantially accelerate innovation in sustainable energy which is critical to tackling environmental challenges of energy at the speed required to meet COP21 and SDG goals. He is Visiting Professor at the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Graduate School on the energy-climate nexus. He has taught at Paris University-Dauphine on energy geopolitics and the Tokyo Institute of Technology on innovation. He also serves as Auditor of SOC Corporation (a world leading manufacturer of micro fuse) in Tokyo, and is Chairman of FairCourt Capital in London.

He has extensive careers in energy business and policymaking as Advisor to Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. (JAPEX), Vice President of Japan National Oil Corporation , and Director for oil markets and security at the International Energy Agency (IEA). He started his career in the Foreign Office of Japan as Diplomat, and he assumed several posts related with energy policymaking and administration in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

Currently, he is strongly interested in a new dimension of energy and environmental policies, and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Agenda Council on Decarbonizing Energy which identifies innovative technologies and strategies to decarbonize the energy mix and catalyze their implementation. He also contributes to the Energy Permanent Monitoring Panel of the World Federation of Scientists, and has taught at the Tokyo Institute of Technology on technological innovation and Paris University-Dauphine on energy geopolitics.
